Editorial Changes to the presentation of the Evington Echo have come about because we needed to make the process of putting the paper together more manageable. In the past we have been continually changing from black and white to colour, which hasn't been easy. Moving to colour throughout was a better option. This decision had implications on paper size and paper quality. Although our new version looks expensive, it does work out to be a little cheaper. Also our new printer collects and delivers the Echoes, which saves me, Peter, Anne and Don some time. I know some of you were unhappy about the glossy finish. I hope you like this matt/silk version better. And yes, we are still the same friendly team of volunteers. The paper is put together on my kitchen table as there is no office! We then rely on our teams of distributors to get the paper to you. Please consider offering your help to make this paper even more successful. We do also need a few more committed advertisers who can continue on a regular basis and pay promptly. We believe our prices are very reasonable. In this issue we say goodbye and good luck to Bella and Rhia Chohan, who are off to university. Bella will be remembered for the bright pink front cover on the last issue. Her comment was, “I think it is important for the Echo, with its new look, to try and get out of its comfort zone!” We want to produce a paper that has something of interest for everyone in Evington, young or old. We value your comments and input on this. We particularly need more young writers. Please contact me if you can help. I wish all our Muslim readers a very happy Eid-al-Fitr. All our Sikh readers will be celebrating a very important event this October – the 300th year of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Helen Pettman |
