PARISH POLL AGAINST THE ECO TOWN

I am writing to you as a resident of Thurnby and Bushby and also chairman of its Parish Council. Some months ago we held a parish poll in Thurnby and Bushby which voted overwhelmingly against the development, as did Scraptoft. At the poll a number of residents from Evington visited the polling station in the hope that they too could express their opinion. Since the publication of that poll the Co-op has published more details of its proposals including the building of a park and ride facility behind the Downing Drive area. Such proposals will entirely destroy the character of the Green Wedge and of Evington and Thurnby and Bushby.

My reason for writing is to encourage the Evington Echo to make people of Evington more aware of these radical proposals and to offer them a voice to express their views.
