PROTECTING OUR PARK FROM PLASTIC POLLUTION

Protecting our Park from Plastic Pollution

Many of us watched with horror Sir David Attenborough’s TV series, Blue Planet, which raised awareness about the damaging effects of plastics on our oceans. At the local level, we must stop the dumping of plastics around us as it is harmful for the environment and the living creatures that inhabit it. We have a duty to reduce plastic pollution in our neighbourhood. Unfortunately, some of us are not playing our part in protecting the environment. During my recent visit to Evington Park, I noticed that our small pond was littered with several plastic bottles. This is not only unattractive but is also damaging to the wildlife that inhabits the pond. We can all play our part in protecting the environment locally by reducing the use of plastics and responsibly recycling them or reusing them. Let us all work together to reduce the use of plastics in our lives as much as possible and make Evington free from plastic pollution. Think globally, act locally.
