St Denys Church is at the heart of our village, and we want to welcome everyone who lives, works and visits the village (not just on Sundays). So over the summer we will be starting and continuing a number of initiatives which we hope you will join us for.
On the 2nd Monday of every month, 2.30pm—4.30pm, in the Parish Centre
Monday Meet is a friendly group for anyone who would like some company, is feeling lonely or going through bereavement. You are very welcome to join us, however you are feeling and bring a friend. Come for ten minutes, the full two hours, or anything in between. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in a relaxed atmosphere and meet others in a similar situation. Chat with our trained volunteers, or come and enjoy some time in which to relax.
Every Thursday from 9am – 12noon
Come and visit the oldest building in the village, built in 1219, and chat to our friendly volunteers about the history of the church and its fixtures and fittings. Enjoy this quiet reflective space on your own or with friends, or take the opportunity to pray. This includes a short service of Holy Communion from 9.30am which you are very welcome to join us.
Sunday Afternoon Teas
Every Sunday in July and August 3pm – 5pm, in the Parish Centre
Back by popular demand! Join us for afternoon tea in the parish centre and beautiful church yard. All of our cakes are home made by the congregation. Delights will include fresh bakes scones, chocolate fudge cake and classic Victoria sandwich.
The church will also be open for our new Barrows and Baskets, Buckets and Boots Festival on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July from 12noon – 5pm and the Evington Village Fete on Saturday 8th August from 12noon – 5pm. See the relevant posters for more details!
