WEEK 5 AT THE CHILDREN’S GARDEN ON THE COMMUNITY ALLOTMENT

Garden inspired by colours of the rainbow

RAINBOW GARDEN

Hello again!

After quite a few weeks we came up the drive to the community allotment, just my mum and I.

We went to the polytonal to find a lovely colourful sign that said ‘Grow and Thrive Community Allotment’ which we thought was very smart.

There we saw the tyres and pots we had painted before. All were still very bright, but the blue had faded slightly.

When we went to see the pond we saw all of the water had dried out! We had to pull out the tub, dig a deeper hole, then put it back in.

We arranged the pots and tyres in a semi circle around the pond, like a rainbow with the colours in the same order, leaving space for the bench.

Lining was put around the pond and we arranged stones and rocks on top. We watered the pots and tyres that had been filled with soil and compost by Mrs. Pettman.

Nasturtiums were planted in the yellow tyre and orange pot. Most of the flowers were orange so I added some daffodil bulbs for more yellow.

Tomatoes filled the red pot, and Mrs. Pettman planted Irises in the blue.

I look forward to seeing how it all looks the next time I go!
